Lots of exciting changes are taking place in our community!

Check out the new Little Free Library just outside the Borough Building. Our resident, Cecelia Gallen, worked on this project for her Girl Scout Silver Award. The library’s concept is for a person to take a book and share a book. So, if you are looking for something to read, visit the Little Free Library. Thanks Cece, great work!

Hatfield welcomed our newest Junior Council person (JCP), Malachi Nisbett, a sophomore at NPHS. Malachi took the JCP pledge at our August meeting and now has a seat at the Council table. Welcome aboard, Malachi; we're excited to have you join us.

Get ready for a transformation in the heart of our commercial district! Plans are being finalized to develop the SEPTA Train Station, a project with immense potential for our community. Pending the completion of the necessary agreements and renovations, a microbrewery is scheduled to open in that location, adding a new dimension to our town. Watch our social media for further news about this exciting development.

We have just welcomed our two latest additions to the restaurant scene -Poppy's Tavern and El Quetzal- both located on Lincoln Avenue. If you're hungry and looking for a restaurant you can walk to, please consider patronizing any of the many fine places to eat in the Borough.

Fall is the time of year when work commences on the Budget for Fiscal year 2025, a blueprint developed based on the Borough's financial needs. There will be a Preliminary Budget Presentation Meeting in the Borough Hall on November 13th at 7:00 p.m. The Council will also present the 2025 projects at this meeting. Your presence and input are crucial in shaping our community's future. Learn how the budget is developed and share your thoughts with Borough officials.

As I conclude my communication with you, I have a request. I would like you to reach out to neighbors of a certain age and see if you can assist them. Many residents no longer drive and cannot shop for groceries, attend church, or keep doctor appointments. If you know someone who may need help, please do not hesitate to contact them. I believe they will appreciate the assistance, and the satisfaction you will feel is priceless. Along this vein, I wanted to mention that Pastor Raabe of Grace Lutheran Church and I are exploring ways to reach out to our Borough residents and provide them with a social outlet. If you want to learn more or become involved in the planning, contact Pastor Raabe or myself.

Take care.
