As we enter the fourth quarter of 2025, I want to reflect on the year and the many positive aspects of living in Hatfield Borough...
I am pleased to report that our residents have had multiple opportunities to share their wishes and vision for Hatfield's future through various channels, including town halls (the next Town Hall is scheduled for November 12th, with the 2026 Budget & planned projects on the agenda), surveys, and the Montgomery County Planning Commission Open House. Additionally, Council meetings are live-streamed and available for viewing on the Borough's website.
In 2025, we implemented Ordinance Number 557, which established a Rental Property Inspection Program. This program mandates inspections of all rental properties to ensure compliance with Borough standards. The inspections cover both the interior and exterior of properties, helping to maintain a respectable appearance. This initiative aims to uphold or improve property values in Hatfield while also generating revenue for the Borough.
One of the most significant projects recently completed in Hatfield involved the replacement of our storm water system on East and West Broad Streets and North Main Street, along with the sanitary sewer system on North Main. Updating this aging infrastructure will ensure the smooth operation of these systems. The ongoing maintenance of the Hatfield Electric System, managed by our Public Works department, which includes scheduled tree trimming and pole replacement, has led to fewer outages, both borough-wide and localized.
By utilizing our Behind the Meter System during peak hours, we were able to provide a steady supply of electricity at a lower cost.
We have also initiated preliminary work on our Crosswalks Project, which will enhance safety for residents crossing near the Liberty Bell Trail and at the Towamencin Avenue/West Broad Street intersection.
The Hatfield Hello program has been developed to greet our newest residents and provide them with information about our businesses and restaurants.
We are currently exploring proposals to develop the Hatfield Train Station property as part of our efforts to revitalize our core commercial district.
We are actively seeking a cost-effective and practical solution for the issues with the Heritage Park Pond.
Finally, thanks to the hard work of our administrators and local elected State officials, Hatfield has received numerous grants to help offset the expenses related to our capital improvements.
As you can see, your local government is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our residents in Hatfield. Please follow the Borough activities on our social media pages or, better yet, attend our Town Halls and regular meetings and share your ideas with us.
Take care!
Mayor Girard
